Wolf Pack Goes 0-2 at Double-Dual

STOCKTON, Calif. - The University of Nevada swim team recorded two losses in a double-dual meet Friday hosted by Pacific.  The team fell to UC Davis 154-99, and to Pacific 156-106. 

Sophomore Mengjiao Mi (Beijing, China) recorded strong performances for the Wolf Pack, claiming first in the 1,000-yard (10:14.73) and 500-yard (4:59.79) freestyle races.  Mi also helped Nevada's 400-yard freestyle relay team to a second place finish. 

Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn (So., Bangkok, Thailand) also scored points for the Pack with her first place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:06.85), second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.86) and fourth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.11). 

Other top performers from the day for Nevada included Gabby Guieb (So., Seattle, Wash.) and Marichi Gandionco (Sr., Quezon City, Philippines).  Guieb took first in the 200-yard fly (2:06.19), second in the 200-yard IM (2:11.32) and fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.75).  Gandionco placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (58.78) and claimed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.94). 

This meet did not include diving events. 

The Wolf Pack swimmers and divers will face Western Athletic Conference foe Fresno State tomorrow at 12 p.m. in Fresno, Calif.  Fans can follow the action at nevadawolfpack.com.
