Nevada cruises past Pacific 135-70

RENO, Nev. -  The University of Nevada swimming  & diving team won 10-of-13 events in its dual with Pacific at Lombardi Pool on Nevada Day to win 135-70.  The Wolf Pack won the first four events and never looked back in winning its first meet of the year.  

The Pack relay of Luiza Vieira, Yawen Li, Sita Kusserow and Teresa Baerens won the first event of the meet in a time of 3:51.31 to stake Nevada to a 13-4 advantage.  Nevada's second relay in the event took third.

Carson City, Nev. junior, Michelle Forman won the first individual event taking the1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:37.04.  

The freshman Kusserow won two individual events on the day placing first in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly.  Li was also a double individual winner placing first in the 200-yard IM and 200-yard breaststroke.

Diver Grace Huang scored 327.9 in the 3-meter and 300.65 in 3-meter to place first in both events.  Team points in diving were not awarded as both events were treated as an exhibition since Pacific does not sponsor diving.

Freshman Teresa Baerens won her first collegiate event capturing the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.53.

Nevada earned points placing second in a pair of events.  Arantxa Medina placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.59.  Vieira swam to a second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke posting a time of 2:05.80.

Nevada concluded the meet winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:36.88. Medina, Forman, Baerens and Andrea Kostecki comprised the winning team.
