STANFORD, Calif. – Ashley Kunz and Mengjiao Mi led the University of Nevada swimming and diving team with five combined top-10 finishes at the George Haines Invitational, hosted by Stanford University Friday.
The Wolf Pack is in fourth place overall after day one with 23 total points. Stanford leads the four-team event with 243 points, followed by San Jose State at 154 points and Hawai’i at 98 points.
Mi posted Nevada’s highest individual finish, taking fourth in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:33.50. Kunz was seventh in the 50-yard breaststroke prelims with a time of 31.83, improving to 31.82 in the finals to finish fifth in the event.
On the diving board, Grace Huang finished second in the three-meter finals with a score of 278.85. Her finish in the only diving event of the day was good enough to earn the Pack seven of its 23 points.
Nevada finished 10th in the 100-yard medley relay with a time of 51.94. The team of Nikki Longland, Kunz, Gabby Guieb and Mi earned the Pack four points. Mi also anchored the Pack’s 100-meter freestyle relay team to a ninth-place finish, earning four additional points.
The meet will conclude Saturday, with events beginning at 11 a.m.
