Nevada swimming and diving wins Governor's Series points with strong third-place finish

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Nevada swimming and diving captured third place with a strong effort at the Mountain West Championships and saw diving coach Jian Li You and diver Grace Huang sweep the top honors on Saturday.
With the third-place finish and UNLV coming in a distant seventh place, Nevada takes home three points in the Governor’s Series competition presented by NV Energy.
Huang was named the 2014 MW Diver of the Year as a Nevada diver won the honor for the second season in a row (Stephanie Hansen, 2013). On Saturday, Huang won her second event of the meet with a 264.27 in the platform event.
Li You won the Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season. Li You has now been named a conference coach of the year five times in her 18 seasons at Nevada. She was the WAC Diving Coach of the Year in 2001, 2004 and 2012 and she captured the same honor from the MW last season.
Yawen Li had a huge performance for Nevada in the 200 breaststroke with a MW all-time record and pool record time of 2:10.15.
Boise State won the title with 735 points and San Diego State was second at 633.5. Nevada was third with 507, followed by Wyoming (455), New Mexico (303), Air Force (292), UNLV (282.5), San Jose State (270), Fresno State (177) and Colorado State (165).
Nevada had been picked fifth by the MW coaches heading into the event.
