Nevada Softball Has Four Named To All-Region Team

RENO, Nev. Four Nevada softball players earned spots on the 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Pacific Region Team, the NFCA announced Thursday.

Senior outfielder Brittany Puzey, junior pitcher Katie Holverson, junior third baseman Sam Bias and junior outfielder Britton Murdock were each named to the All-Region team.

Holverson earned All-Region honors last year while Puzey was an All-Region selection in 2007.

This is the second straight season that Nevada had multiple players named to the All-Region team. Last year, catcher Noelle Micka and outfielder Vanessa Briones joined Holverson on the All-Region team.

Nevada led all WAC teams with four All-Region selections. Hawaii had three picks while Fresno State, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State and Boise State each had one.
