Fresno, Calif. - The Nevada softball team lost its protested game against Hawai'i, 6-2, on Wednesday. The Wolf Pack will now be the four seed at the 2006 WAC Championships and will play New Mexico State at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pack is now 28-30 and 9-9 in the WAC.
The game started in the bottom of the fourth inning, where it had been protested before. The Pack was hurt by sloppy play and gave up four runs off three hits and two errors in the top of the fifth. Nevada gave up another run in the seventh to make the score 6-2.
About the New Mexico State Aggies: (25-21 overall; 8-9 WAC) The Aggies are led by shortstop Stephanie Herrera and outfielder Rishelle Gastelum. Herrera has recorded 42 hits, four doubles and two homeruns while batting .350. Gastelum has a .326 batting average and has hit three doubles, one triple and has recorded eight RBI. Sarah Seagraves has a 2.37 ERA in 34 appearances. She has also recorded 166 strikeouts. Nevada is 1-2 against the Aggies in 2006 and is 2-2 all-time versus New Mexico.
