Nevada Splits Double-header With Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. - Nevada (14-21) used a Kristin Stith home run in the second and cruised to a 3-0 victory behind the shutout pitching of Jordan McPherson in game one here Friday night. The Pack dropped a tough, 4-3 game in eight innings in game two, after leading 3-2 in the seventh. The Pack allowed one each in the seventh and eighth.
McPherson pitched a comple-game, six-hitter in getting the win in game one to move to 6-5. Stith hit her second home run and with the two RBI now has 10 on the year. Brittany Lorenzen had two hits and the other RBI for Nevada.
In the second game, McPherson came on in relief and picked up the loss, allowing two runs in the final three-and-two-thirds innings of work behind starter Tiffany Hoeft, who gave up the first two runs in her three-and-two-thirds innings of pitching. Lorenzen was 3-4, Candice Rainwater was 2-4 and Jiliane Hartfiel and Kari Stockstill each had a hit and an RBI for the Pack.
Amber Miles and Ashley Palma each had two hits for the Lady Techsters in game two. Kristin Rupp got the win (2-5) in allowing three runs in pitching a complete-game, eight-inning affair.
The two will play a single game this afternoon to conclude the three-game series. Nevada returns home to host Utah Valley State College next weekend. The Pack will play Saturday and Sunday in a three-game series at Idlewild Park, with Saturday's double-header starting at noon and Sunday's single game beginning at 10 a.m. Admission to Nevada softball is free.
