Pack Splits With Sacramento State Wednesday

Final Stats

RENO, Nev. - Nevada (11-17, 2-1 WAC) split a double-header here Wednesday in the home opener, beating Sacramento State, 4-3 in game one, and losing the nightcap, 6-2 at Idlewild Park.

Lindsey Hall was 3-3 with two RBI, including an RBI double in the third. Kari Stockstill had the game-winning hit with an RBI single in the fifth, scoring Candice Rainwater, who had singled.

Tiffany Hoeft (2-6) picked up the win in relief, giving up no runs and two hits in three-and-two-thirds innings pitched. Brianne Fergusontook the loss (9-6).

Jiliane Hartfiel had her sixth home run of the season, a solo shot in the first to give the Pack a 1-0 lead and they added another run in the inning. Hartfiel tied the one-season mark for home runs at Nevada with the solo blast.

In game two, Sacramento State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first but Nevada cut it to a 2-1 lead in the third. The two traded runs in the fourth but Sac State pushed across three in the top of the seventh to insure the win. Amy Hillel and Gloria Toledo were both 2-4 with two RBI to lead the Hornets (17-13). Nikki Cinque picked up the win (8-4) in allowing just two runs, only of them earned, and scattering five hits in going the distance.

Nevada hosts their own tournament with four games each Friday and Saturday, starting at 9 am, and two games Sunday, also starting at 9 am, all at Idlewild Park. The tourney begins with McNeese State and Utah Valley State at 9 am Friday followed by McNeese and Pacific at 11:15 am. Nevada plays Pacific at 1:30 pm and Utah Valley State at 3:45 pm. Saturday's schedule has Pacific and McNeese State at 9 am and Utah Valley State and Pacific at 11:15 am. Nevada plays Utah Valley State at 1:30 pm and McNeese State at 3:45 pm. The consolation game for the two teams with the worst records in the tournament at 9 am Sunday followed by the championship contest at 11:15 am between the two teams with the best marks from the tournament.
