Saturday's Softball Games Cancelled In Hawaii Due To Rain

HOMOLULU - Due to heavy rains, today's (Saturday) final day of softball competition for the University of Nevada and all teams at the Hawaiian Airlines Spring Fling Tournament was cancelled.
The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame were named the champion as they went undefeated (4-0) in pool play. Hawai'i ended second in the tournament with a record of 2-2. Campbell finished in third, also with a record of 2-2 (they lost head-to-head with Hawai'i). Nevada and Virginia, both at 1-3, rounded out the field to tie for fourth.
Nevada junior Kari Stockstill (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was named to the all-tournament team as an infielder. She was 3-7 with three RBI.

Most Valuable Player - Tyleen Tausaga, Hawai'i Nevada opens WAC play on Monday, March 14, against the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine. The two teams hook up in a double-header on Monday, starting at 6 p.m. HT, and end the three-game series on Tuesday, March 15, with a single game starting at 6 p.m. HT. Nevada returns to Reno to host arch-rival UNLV in a double-header Saturday, March 19 at noon, in the home opener at Idlewild Park.
