Nevada Splits At Hawaii Tournament

HONOLULU - Nevada split the first two games of the Hawaii Tournament Thursday in beating Virginia, 7-6, and then losing to Campbell, 5-1.
In the first game, Nevada took a 1-0 lead and then exploded for five runs in the third and added one in the sixth. The Pack gave up four runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to hang on to the 7-6 victory.
Tiffany Hoeft picked up the win and Jordan McPherson earned her third save. Brittany Lorenzen hit a solo home run and Lindsey Hall connected for a grand slam for Nevada.
In game two, Nevada lost to Campbell 5-1 in giving up one run in the first and third and allowing three in the fifth. Nevada scored its lone run in the seventh. McPherson took the loss and Jiliane Hartfiel was two for three while Lorenzen had an RBI in going one for two for the Pack.
Nevada (8-11) plays Notre Dame and Hawaii Friday with matchups for Saturday's semi-finals and finals to be determined after Friday's games.
