SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Three Nevada errors led to five unearned San Diego State runs as the Wolf Pack softball team fell to the Aztecs 10-1 in five innings on Saturday at SDSU SB Stadium.
With the loss, Nevada fell to 21-15 overall and 3-5 in the Mountain West Conference. SDSU improved to 27-9 and 5-1.
Freshman McKenna Isenberg got the start in the circle for the Pack but was unable to make it past the third inning. She gave up four in the first, one in the second and one in the third but only two of the six runs were earned as a two Nevada errors proved costly.
The Wolf Pack got a run back in the fourth as Erin Jones led off with a single, and that was followed by singles by Nikki Orozco and Ashley Butera to load the bases. With one out, Molly McWilliams lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Jones from third to cut the Aztec lead to 6-1.
But in the bottom of the fourth, another error opened the door for four more SDSU runs off Pack reliever Ariel Craig.
Isenberg fell to 7-3 with the loss while SDSU starter Erica Romero improved to 5-3.
Nevada and San Diego State will conclue play in the three-game series on Sunday with first pitch at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast at NevadaWolfPack.TV on the Mountain West Network.
