SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Nevada softball team couldn’t overcome a four-run first inning by San Diego State and the Wolf Pack fell to the Aztecs 4-0 at SDSU Softball Stadium on Friday.

With the loss, Nevada fell to 21-14 overall and 3-4 in the Mountain West Conference. SDSU improved to 26-9 and 4-1.

Pack starter Megan Dortch (9-7) walked four, hit a batter and give up just one single and was unable to get out of the first inning as the Aztecs scratched four runs across in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead.

That proved to be enough for SDSU starter Danielle O’Toole, who gave up seven Nevada hits but worked around them to improve to 19-4 overall.

Nevada had chances to break through but the Pack couldn’t get a sacrifice bunt down in the first and ran into a double play in the second.

In the seventh, Nevada put two on with one out after singles by Molly McWilliams and Jasmine Jenkins. On Sara Parsons’ single to second, Jenkins made contact with the second baseman and was ruled out to take Nevada to its last out. McWilliams was tagged out on a ground ball to the left side and that ended if for the Pack.

Nevada and San Diego State will resume play in the three-game series on Saturday with first pitch at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast at NevadaWolfPack.TV on the Mountain West Network.
