OGDEN, Utah – A five-run third propelled Nevada to a 7-1 win in game two of a doubleheader with Weber State Thursday, giving the Wolf Pack a split of the day’s action in Ogden. Nevada dropped game one 5-3.
Nevada moved to 10-23 with the split, while Weber State moved to 11-18.
In Game two, Nevada got a complete game from Bailey Brewer on top of its fourth inning, as she struck out eight for her first-career win. She gave up seven hits and one earned run without issuing a walk.
The third included an RBI-triple from Lauren Lastrapes, her second extra-base hit of the game. She also doubled in the first and finished game two 2-4 with two RBI. In total, the Pack scored five times on four hits and an error in the inning.
The Wolf Pack scored the first three runs of game one, only to see the Wildcats score five times in the fourth to take the lead.
Nevada brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh in the form of Megan Fincher. After an Ashley Butera double, Sara Parsons was hit by a pitch to bring Fincher up with runners at first and second. Fincher bounced a 2-2 pitch back to Weber State Starter Sarah Clark to end the game. Clark went seven innings for her ninth win of the season.
Nevada will stay on the road this week, taking on Utah State in its second conference series of the season. Game one will be Friday at 2 p.m.
