RENO, Nev. – For the second-consecutive game the Nevada softball team found itself trailing late in the game but the Wolf Pack came out on top once again.

Nevada (21-5, 2-0) was down two runs, 10-8, entering the bottom seventh but it pieced together a rally that was capped off with a game-winning RBI single from senior Jasmine Jenkins that gave the Pack an 11-10 victory over Boise State on Friday afternoon at Hixson Park.

Freshman Kwynn Warner had another excellent game after going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a home run and three RBI while senior Hannah Harger went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Starter McKenna Isenberg earned the win and improved to 8-3 on the season after going four innings and posting four strikeouts.

The Broncos had an answer all day but in the top of the seventh, Isenberg closed out the inning with back-to-back Ks. Sophomore Amanda Nicholas led-off the inning with a single between shortstop and third base and was replaced by freshman Amanda Geil as a pinch runner. Harger then singled to short that moved Geil to third and, with one out, the Pack worked the bases loaded after a single through the left side from Warner.

Junior Raquel Martinez stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and worked a four-pitch walk that cut the Nevada deficit to one, 10-9. Senior Megan Sweet did not need to take the bat off her shoulders to tie the game up at 10-10 as the first pitch she saw hit her right leg to score Harger from third. The next batter was Jenkins who, on a 1-1 count, took an outside pitch the opposite way to right center field that plated Warner to give the Wolf Pack the walk-off win.

After an RBI single from Jenkins gave Nevada an early 1-0 lead, the Broncos used a five-run inning in the top of the second to go up 5-1. Sophomore Jennifer Purcell posted an RBI double, her 11th of the season, scored Sweet in the bottom of the third but the Broncos pushed across four in the top of the fifth that make it 9-2.

With its back against the wall and the run-rule in effect entering the bottom of the fifth, Nevada chipped away at its deficit. An RBI single from Nicholas was followed by an RBI single from Harger that made it 9-4. Sophomore Aaliyah Gibson singled through the right side to score another run and was followed by Warner who crushed her third home run of series, this time a three-run shot, that made it a one-run game, 9-8.

Boise State tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth to extend its advantage to 10-8 but it wasn’t enough as the Pack walked-off for the second-straight day.

Nevada’s MW opening series with the Broncos concludes tomorrow at 12 p.m. Fans are asked to come out early for an Easter egg hunt before the game at 11:30.
