The University of Nevada soccer team (6-8-1, 2-2 MW) will host a pair of home matches, starting with a “Governor’s Series, presented by NV Energy” contest against UNLV (10-3-2, 2-1-1 MW) Friday night at 7 p.m. Nevada trails the overall series between the two soccer programs 1-6-1. The Rebels defeated the Wolf Pack 2-1 in the last meeting during the 2011 season in Reno. UNLV is led by junior forward Jenn Wolfe with 11 goals.
 
The Wolf Pack will play its final home match of the 2012 season Sunday against Fresno State (4-8-4, 2-1-1 MW) at 1 p.m. Nevada trails the overall series 1-12-1, losing the last meeting 2-1 last season in Reno.

“One of our main goals this year is to qualify for the Mountain West Women’s Soccer Tournament in our inaugural season with the conference,” head coach Dr. Melissa Price said.  “We are in a position to do that. With three games remaining in conference play we control our own destiny. Friday’s match against our in-state rival presents us with another chance to get closer to achieving that goal.   We are focused on taking things one match at a time and look forward to playing in front of our great fans in our final home matches of the season on Friday and Sunday. ”

Three Wolf Pack Players Named to All-Tournament Team, Nevada Clipped by UNLV
RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's soccer team fell 2-1 to UNLV in the final game of the Wolf Pack Invitational Sunday.

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, the team will wear pink uniforms in the “Governor’s Series, presented by NV Energy” match against UNLV Friday night. All fans who wear a pink t-shirt will receive free entrance.

Sunday’s match against Fresno State will be the last at Mackay Stadium for seniors Dana Moreno, Sarah Schmeda, and Lauren Braman. The three will be honored in a special pregame ceremony.

-Week Nine-

Friday, Oct. 12- Nevada 1, Wyoming 0

The Wolf Pack snapped a four-match losing streak last Friday afternoon on the road, defeating Wyoming 1-0 for the team's first Mountain West road victory. The shutout is the fourth of the year for the team. Nevada and Wyoming had a tightly contested first half, as neither team scored in the opening period. Nevada successfully executed a counter-attack with eight minutes left in regulation, as sophomore Bobby Reilly scored her first career goal from a cross by Daisha Jones-Oglesby to give Nevada a 1-0 lead. Moreno came up with two big saves late to preserve the win.

Sunday, Oct. 14- Nevada 1, Air Force 0

Nevada closed out its two-match road trip with a 1-0 win against Air Force last Sunday afternoon at the Cadet Soccer Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colo. Nevada claimed a 1-0 lead four minutes into the second half, as freshman Kelly Gould headed in her first career goal from an assist by Alyissa deRonde and Chrisalyn Fonte. Air Force had several shots on goal late, but Moreno and the Nevada defense came up with big plays to hold on to win the match 1-0.
