The University of Nevada soccer team (4-8-1, 0-1 MW) will travel to Laramie, Wyo., for a match against the Wyoming Cowgirls (7-4-2, 0-1 MW) Friday 2 p.m., at the Madrid Sports Complex. Wyoming leads the overall series 1-0, defeating Nevada 2-1 (OT) during the 2006 season in Reno.

The Wolf Pack will close out the weekend with a stop at Colorado Springs, Colo., to face Air Force (5-4-3, 0-2 MW) Sunday 10 a.m., at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The meeting marks the first time the two programs will face each other.

“The team is confident leading up to our matches at Wyoming and Air Force,” head coach Dr. Melissa Price said.  “Both teams present good matchups for us this week. We are excited to face two conference opponents who we aren’t too familiar with in terms of past meetings. ”

Match-By-Match

-Week Eight-

Sunday, Oct. 7- New Mexico 1, Nevada 0

New Mexico jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, as Natalie Jenks deflected a shot by Stephanie Rowe past sophomore Melanie Bertrand at the 2:45 minute mark. Bertrand recorded her first career start at goalkeeper for Nevada. Nevada began the second period aggressive on the offensive end by creating multiple shots. Wolf Pack junior Chelsea Fricke’s header in the 67th minute nearly tied the match, but it sailed just wide of the net. The New Mexico defense was solid down the stretch, as the Lobos claimed the 1-0 win.
