Nevada Soccer Week Eight Notes
The University of Nevada soccer team (4-7-1, 1-0 MW) resumes Mountain West play Sunday afternoon, hosting the New Mexico Lobos (7-4-1, 1-0 MW) 1 p.m., at Mackay Stadium. New Mexico leads the overall series 1-0-1. The teams ended their last meeting tied 0-0 during the 2006 season in Albuquerque.
The Lobos are led by seniors Rachel Montoya and Stephanie Rowe who have four goals apiece. New Mexico is currently on a four-match win streak, defeating Boise State 1-0 last Friday in its last match.

Sunday’s match is Girl Scouts Day. All Girl Scouts who wear their uniform are in for free.
Friday, Sept. 28- No. 12 San Diego State 3, Nevada 0
The 12th-ranked Aztecs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Wolf Pack, scoring a goal at the 4:34 minute mark by midfielder Tiffany Hurst. San Diego State extended its lead to 2-0 in the 27th minute. Nevada’s offense looked stronger out of the break, opening the second half with a shot on goal by sophomore Marlo Smith that was saved by Aztec goalkeeper Rachel Boaz. San Diego State responded with a goal by Megan Jurado in the 56th minute to take a 3-0 lead.
Sunday, Sept. 30- Gonzaga 3, Nevada 0
Gonzaga took a 1-0 lead in the first half, scoring a goal in the 23rd minute by midfielder Kasey Rubosky. Nevada sophomore Chrisalyn Fonte’s shot on goal two minutes later that would have tied the match soared over the crossbar. The Bulldogs scored their second goal of the day in the 72nd minute, and extended its lead to 3-0 with 10 minutes left in the match on a goal by Heather Johnson
