RENO, Nev. -
The University of Nevada soccer team (1-2-2,MW) will close out a three-match road trip Friday evening with a contest against No. 17 Portland (3-1-1,WCC). Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Merlo Field.
"There is a level of excitement in our locker room about having an opportunity to play a ranked team like Portland," head coach Dr. Melissa Price said. "They have had a great level of success over the past several years. We are really looking forward to taking the trip up there and playing such a quality opponent."
Portland is the first ranked team Nevada will have faced this season. The Wolf Pack is 0-4 as a program against ranked opponents. The team battled a pair of ranked programs last season in No. 15 California and No. 12 San Diego State. The meeting marks the first match between the two schools.
Following the match at Portland, Nevada will return to Reno to host Sacramento State Sunday afternoon at the Moana Sports Complex. The event is free to the public. Fans are encouraged to bring canned goods to donate to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
