Price, Pack Announce 2012 Schedule

RENO, Nev. – Wolf Pack fans will see the Nevada soccer team play at Mackay Stadium seven times in 2012, including a non-conference matchup with perennial Pacific-12 contender California and three Mountain West contests, including rival UNLV, in the teams inaugural year in the conference, head coach Dr. Melissa Price announced Friday. "Each year we put together a schedule that will challenge us and prepare us for the next level. We feel the 2012 schedule fits that mold and we're excited to start a new legacy of success in the Mountain West,” Price said. The Pack will begin its 2012 season at home against former WAC foe Hawai’i on August 17th at 7 p.m., in the first of its seven matches in Reno. "I'm excited that we open at home in 2012 – we hope to see all of our fans on August 17th as we face off against Hawai’i," Price said. The Golden Bears will drop in on the Pack on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. The UNLV match will be played under the lights, with a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday, Oct. 19. The Pack will meet Cal Poly as a part of its home non-conference schedule as well, taking on the Mustangs on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. The 2012 season will also feature exciting road matches, as the Pack will meet two tough Texas opponents beginning at the end of August. On Friday, Aug. 31, Nevada will take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders at 7 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas. Two days later, the Pack will meet the TCU Horned Frogs at 1 p.m. in Fort Worth. Nevada makes its Mountain West debut at San Diego State on Friday, September 28. A week later, the Pack will welcome the defending MWC champion New Mexico Lobos to Mackay, meeting them at 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 7. The Mountain West Conference Tournament begins on October 31 in San Diego, with quarterfinal matches played on the opening day. The semifinals will take place on Friday, November 2, with the final match set for Sunday, November 4.
Additional conference matches will include Fresno State at Mackay, as well as Wyoming, Air Force and Boise State on the road. |
