RENO, Nev. – Nine home contests highlight the 2014 Nevada soccer regular season schedule, which begins Aug. 22 at home against Denver.
In preparation for the upcoming season, the Wolf Pack will hit the pitch Aug. 15 for its annual Blue and Silver scrimmage at Mackay Stadium. Nevada then opens the regular season Aug. 22 with a 5 p.m. home contest against the Denver Pioneers that will be played at Moana Field. The Pack returns to Mackay two days later to welcome San Francisco for a 1 p.m. game.
Nevada opens the road portion of its schedule Aug. 29 when it travels to Austin, Texas for a pair of non-conference contests. The Pack will do battle with Stephen F. Austin to begin the road trip at 5 p.m., and will stay in Austin for an afternoon matchup against the Texas Longhorns on Aug. 31. The team closes out the road swing at Sacramento State on Sept. 9.
St. Mary’s comes to town to break up a heavy road portion of the schedule on Sept. 7, as the team will once again play at Moana Field at 1 p.m. From there, Nevada hits the road for a couple of games against Pac-12 members Arizona and Arizona State. The Wolf Pack and the Wildcats meet Sept. 12, and the team remains in Tuscon to take on the Sun Devils two days later.
To close out the non-conference schedule, UC Davis visits Reno and Mackay Stadium for a 5 p.m. contest on Sept. 19. Nevada begins Mountain West action Sept. 26 with a visit to Laramie, Wyo. to compete against the Cowgirls of Wyoming. The Pack closes out the weekend by heading down to Fort Collins, Colo. to take on Colorado State.
As October gets underway so does the longest homestand of the season, a four-game set beginning Oct. 3 with a game under the lights against San Jose State. All conference home games will be played at Mackay Stadium. Fresno State makes its way to Reno Oct. 5 for an afternoon matchup.
The homestand continues the following weekend as defending MW champion San Diego State and New Mexico come to town Oct. 10 and Oct. 12, respectively. After hosting its longest homestand of the season, the Pack hits the road for its longest road trip of the year. The road swing begins Oct. 17 as the team heads to Colorado Springs, Colo. for a weekend series against Air Force and first-year Mountain West affiliate member Colorado College.
As the regular season begins to wind down, Nevada makes its way to Boise, Idaho to play Boise State Oct. 24 and will close out the road portion of the conference slate at Utah State on Oct. 26. The Wolf Pack wraps up the regular season Oct. 31 when it welcomes rival UNLV for a 7 p.m. Governor’s Series match.
The 2014 Mountain West Tournament begins Nov. 4 in San Diego, Calif.
