2013 Academic All-MW
RENO, Nev. – A total of 34 Nevada student-athletes were named Thursday as Academic All-Mountain West honorees for the 2013 fall season, the conference announced.
In order to qualify for academic all-Conference honors, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic semester/quarter at the member institution, have a cumulative grade-point-average, at the member institution, of 3.0 or better, and competed in 50 percent of the team’s varsity contests.
The Wolf Pack volleyball and cross country teams led the way as each placed nine student-athletes on the team while women’s soccer and football each saw eight student-athletes honored.
The Nevada contingent was part of a league-record 534 student-athletes who were named to the team for the fall season.
From Ruth Lawanson’s volleyball team, the members were: Lyndsey Anderson; Gace Anxo; Dana Holt; Kara Kasser; Sommer King; Kinsey Minter; Madison Morell; Madison Thorpe; and Samantha Willoughby.
Cross country coach Kirk Elias saw nine runners on the team: Wynne Allen; Caitlin Devitt-Payne; Samantha Diaz; Cheyenne Hunter; Demrey Kirsch; Emily Myers; Laura Palacios; Julie Pedersen; and Dagny Signorelli.
Brian Polian’s football program was represented by Alex Bertrando, Joel Bitonio, Jordan Dobrich, Cody Fajardo, Jordan Hanson, Nate Lytle, Connor Talbott and Brent Zuzo
Dr. Melissa Price’s soccer team had representatives on the team: Katherine Davison; Alyissa deRonde; Chrisalyn Fonte; Chelsea Fricke; Daisha Jones-Oglesby; Madison Lorenzen; Kellyn Morning; and Kelsey Quintos.
