WAIPAHU, Hawai’i – The University of Nevada women’s soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to the Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine Sunday in its Western Athletic Conference opener.
Nevada fell to 2-11 (0-1 WAC), while Hawai’i improved to 3-8 (2-0 WAC).
Continuing her climb to the all-time record for matches started by a Nevada player, Annabelle Allen made her 73rd start, moving her into fourth. She is now four away from tying the all-time record and two appearances away from entering the top 10 in that category as well.
The first 21 minutes of the match went by without either team finding the back of the net, but Hawai’i jumped out to a 1-0 lead in minute 22 when Brittany Lum scored off a free kick.
The Wolf Pack was also bitten by two own goals, including the second of the match that came in minute 42.
Dana Moreno started in goal for the Pack, playing the full 90 minutes and making six saves.
Nevada attempted seven shots, getting three on target, earned one corner kick and committed 14 fouls.
The Pack will be back at Mackay Stadium for its next match, Friday at 7 p.m. against Louisiana Tech.
