BROOKINGS, S.D. -

The University of Nevada soccer team tied South Dakota 0-0 Sunday in the final day of the Jackrabbit Invitational at Fishback Soccer Park. The Wolf Pack is 5-5-8 under Dr. Melissa Price in overtime matches. This is the second overtime match for the team this season.

The tie places Nevada (1-2-2 MW) on the season, while South Dakota sits at (3-1-2 Summit).

“We walk away feeling positive about two shutouts at the Jackrabbit Invitational and preserving the tie today given we had two overtime matches this weekend,” head coach Dr. Price said. “Our goal scoring opportunities are there and I’m confident we will be able to finish them moving forward.”

The match began with two early South Dakota corner kicks that were cleared by the Nevada defense. Wolf Pack defender Kellyn Morning’s shot in the 34th minute was saved by Coyotes goalkeeper Mackenzie Viktor. The two teams entered the intermission tied 0-0.

The second half was tightly contested, as each team had several attempts at scoring opportunities, but could not convert the chances into goals. Regulation ended with a 0-0 score.

South Dakota had the lone shot in the first overtime period on a header by Elena Tsakakis that was saved by Nevada goalkeeper Kelsey Quintos. The Wolf Pack had two shots in the final period, while the Coyotes had one. Both defenses held firm as the match ended in a 0-0 tie.

Nevada will close out its three-match road trip Friday at Portland. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
