RENO, Nev. - The Nevada women's soccer team (1-2-1) notched its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over the Montana Grizzlies (0-4-1) Friday.
Cristen Drummond opened the scoring with a shot inside the right post in the fifth minute. Her first goal of the 2010 campaign gave Nevada a lead they did not relinquish.
Two other players, Jill Erickson and Kesia Broome, also tallied their first goal of the young season Friday. A rowdy Mackay Stadium crowd cheered the Pack from start to finish.
Nevada attempted 18 shots, getting 12 on frame and out chancing the Grizzlies, who took 11 shots and put five on frame.
Senior captain Marie Cove got the start in goal for Nevada, making four saves.
Montana's lone goal came on a long range shot from Carmen Reyes in the 57th minute.
Nevada will look to pull out another home win when they meet the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mackay Stadium.
