RENO, Nev. -

The University of Nevada soccer team fell 1-0 to Wright State Saturday afternoon at Mackay Stadium.

With the loss, Nevada drops to (1-2 MW) on the season, while Wright State improves to (2-1-1 Horizon).

“This is a disappointing loss for us,” head coach Dr. Melissa Price said. “Wright State fought hard and they capitalized on an early opportunity. We turned up the intensity and generated some corners, shots, and free kicks in goal scoring range. When you are down 1-0 and given those opportunities we have to take advantage of those chances.”

Wright State got out to an early 1-0 lead three minutes into the match, as Raiders forward Emilie Fillion put a 30 yard shot over the outstretched hands of Nevada keeper Kelsey Quintos into the net. Nevada forward Stephanie Martini placed a head on a corner kick ball from Katherine Davison in the 16th minute that just missed the upper left corner of the net. Wright State went into the break with a 1-0 lead. The Wolf Pack had four corner kicks in the opening half, while the Raiders had three.

Nevada had several chances in the second half to pull even, but was held scoreless as Wright State held on to win the match 1-0.

The Wolf Pack will travel to Brookings, S.D., to compete in the South Dakota State tournament next week. The team will face South Dakota State on Friday, before taking on South Dakota on Sunday.
