Women's Golf 14th After First Two Rounds at Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate

LAS CRUCES, N.M.   Led by senior Melanie De Leon, the University of Nevada's women's golf team is in 14th place after the first two rounds of the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate, being held Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 13-15 at the par 72, 6,319-yard University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.

Nevada shot a 32-over 320 on Tuesday and stands in 14th with a two-round total of 52-over 628 (308-320). UC Irvine continues to lead the 17-team tournament at 19-over 595 (293-302). The Anteaters holds a three-stroke advantage over Oklahoma (598), Baylor (601), Oral Roberts (608) and tournament host New Mexico State (611) round out the top five teams.

For the Wolf Pack, De Leon is tied for 19th at eight-over 152 after carding a pair of 76s. Sophomore Ana Patricia de la Maza stands in a tie for 49th at 14-over 158 (75-83), while true freshmen Jamie Yam (79-81) and Alex Borcherts (80-80) are tied for 57th at 16-over 160. Sophomore Lauren Hernandez is tied for 75th to round out the Wolf Pack lineup (78-85=163).

Missouri’s Julia Potter moved into the individual field after shooting a three-under 69 on Monday for a two-day total of two-under 142 (73-69). Potter holds a two-stroke lead over UC Irvine’s Jane Chin (70-74=144).

The Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate concludes on Wednesday with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. Mountain Time (6:45 a.m. Pacific Time). A recap and results from the final round will be available at www.nevadawolfpack.com.
