RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women’s golf team will open up the 2012-13 campaign on Monday at the Colonel Bill Wollenberg's Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic hosted by Colorado State.
The 17-team field will be participating in a 54-hole collegiate tournament to be played on the par-72, 6,302-yard Ptarmigan Country Club, located in Windsor, Colo. Playing in threesomes, the teams will play 36 holes in a shotgun start beginning at 7:30 a.m. (Pacific) on Monday. Pairings for the final 18-hole round, to be played on Tuesday will be determined by team score. The low four individual scores will determine the team scores for each round.
Nevada will take a young team to the opening event of the season with senior Louise Yi as the Wolf Pack’s only upperclassman making the trip. Sophomore Nikki Prichard is the only other returner player from last year’s team on the five-player team that will compete at the event. Newcomers Bethany Wurster, Carly Simpson and Caryn Khoo round out the team. Simpson and Khoo are freshmen while Wurster is a Minden, Nev., native who transferred from Oregon State.
