RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women’s golf team is heading to Rancho Mirage, Calif. to play in the Mountain West Championship. This is the team’s second time playing in the tournament.
The 54-hole tournament will begin on Thursday at the 6,324 yard, par-72 Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills country Club. The team will play 18 holes a day, with the final round on Saturday.
“We have had a good week and a half of practice, and they look sharp,” said head coach Kathleen Takaishi. “Carly is playing really well right now, and we know the course well and had success there last year. We just need to focus on what we have control over and we will continue to have success.”
Three points in the Governor’s Series, presented by NV Energy, will also be up from grabs at the championship. The best team finish between the Wolf Pack and the Rebels will earn three points, with each team winning 1.5 in the event of a tie.
The field of teams include Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, and Wyoming.
