RENO, Nev. - The Nevada women's golf team is heading to Maricopa, Ariz. to play in the Cowgirl Classic, hosted by Wyoming.

The 54-hole tournament will begin on Monday at the 6,231 yard, par-72 Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, and the final 18-hole round will be played on Tuesday.

Nevada will send senior Joyce Chong, juniors Bethany Wurster and Nikki Prichard, and sophomores Caryn Khoo and Carly Simpson.

"The team is excited to get back into action after a week off," said head coach Kathleen Takaishi. "Carly and Nikki are playing well right now. If our players can stay patient, have good course management and focus on what we have control over, the results will take care of themselves."

The field of teams include Boise State, BYU, Eastern Washington, Lamar, Montana State, Montana, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Oral Roberts, Portland State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Seattle, Southern Utah, Tulsa, Utah Valley, Utep, Weber state, and Wyoming.
