Wolf Pack Golf Fifth at Hawaii
HONOLULU, Hawaii – Led by freshman Eugenia Guerra, the University of Nevada women’s golf team finished in fifth place at the 2010 Donnis Thompson Invitational. The 17-team tournament was hosted by Hawaii, Monday-Tuesday, March 9-10th.
The Wolf Pack carded 18-over 305 in round three for a tournament total of 58-over 922 to finish in fifth place. Rollins took first place in the team standings, carding 40-over 904 (302-301-302), a one-stroke advantage over University of Nova Southeastern at 41-over 905 (302-301-302). University of San Francisco (297-309-300) finished third at 42-over 906. Fresno State carded their best round Tuesday to come in fourth, only four strokes under the Wolf Pack, 46-over 910 (305-304-301).
Guerra shot two-over 74 in round three to end in a tie for eighth at nine-over 225 (73-78-74). Sophomore Jamie Yam carded even par in round one and tied for 11th overall at 12-over 228 (72-79-77). Junior Lauren Hernandez tied for 28th after carding two rounds of four-over 76 (83-76-76=235), and sophomore Louise Yi carded 21-over 237 (77-80-80) to tie for 37th. Senior Ana Patricia de la Maza rounded out the Wolf Pack in a tie for 60th (82-84-78=244).
Louisa Lies of Fresno State took the individual win after carding six-under 66 in round one. Lies ended the three rounds at even par-216.
The Wolf Pack will next see action April 5-6 at the Cowgirl Classic, held in Chandler Ariz., at the Ocotillo Golf Resort.
