RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada women's golf team will open its 2009 spring season on Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 15-17 at the Aztec Spring Invitational in Chula Vista, Calif. San Diego State University will play host to the 18-team, 54-hole tournament at the par 72, 6,187-yard Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista.
ABOUT THE AZTEC SPRING INVITATIONAL: Teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times starting at 7 a.m. Pacific Time on Sunday and Monday and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. in Tuesday’s final round.
The 18 teams competing in the Aztec Spring Invitational include tournament host San Diego State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Colorado, Colorado State, East Tennessee State, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Texas Tech, UC Irvine, UTEP and Wyoming

NEVADA'S LINEUP: Nevada’s lineup for the Aztec Spring Invitational will include senior Melanie De Leon (Saugus, Calif.), junior Pamela Abreu (Guatemala City, Guatemala), sophomore Ana Patricia de la Maza (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and true freshmen Jamie Yam (San Diego, Calif.) and Alex Borcherts (Las Vegas, Nev.).
FALL RECAP: Under the direction of Director of Golf Adam Pohll, the Wolf Pack turned in a pair of top 10 finishes in four tournaments this fall with its best showing coming in the form of a second-place finish at the Northwest Inland Cup in September. Senior Melanie De Leon led the team with a 73.50 stroke average. She finished in the top 20 in all four fall tournaments, including three top 10 showings. De Leon claimed the first victory over her career at the Northwest Inland Cup. Freshman Jamie Yam was second on the squad with a 77.50 stroke average and turned in a pair of top 20 finishes this fall, including tie for seventh at the Northwest Inland Cup.
UP NEXT: Following the Aztec Spring Invitational, the Wolf Pack will return to action Feb. 23-24, traveling to the Fresno Lexus Classic. Fresno State will play host to the tournament at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, Calif.
