Feb. 10, 2013

The University of Nevada women’s golf team will attack the spring part of its 2012-13 schedule on Monday when it opens play in the 11-team Gold Rush, hosted by Long Beach State.

Play begins Monday morning with a shotgun start on the first and second rounds at Yorba Linda Country Club. The three-round event concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.

Third-year coach Chad Spencer said he’s excited for his young team to get back to action.

“We had some promising moments in the fall and I’m eager to see this team make more strides during the spring,” Spencer said.

The young Wolf Pack will see senior Louise Yi, junior Joyce Chong, sophomore Nikki Prichard and freshmen Caryn Khoo and Carly Simpson take part in the tournament.

In addition to Nevada and the host 49ers, the field is comprised of: BYU, Fullerton, Gonzaga, Northridge, Portland State, San Diego State, Santa Clara, Washington State and UC Irvine.
