BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Jamie Yam continued her hot play with a 1-under 71 and the Nevada women’s golf team shot its lowest round of the season thus far with a 291 in the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Monday.

Yam led a strong Nevada effort as freshmen Nikki Prichard (72) and Taylor Bickell (73) also put up strong rounds for the Wolf Pack at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Louise Yi shot 75 and Joyce Chong rounded out the day with an 81.

"We played pretty well," coach Chad Spencer said. "I am happy for the girls and it looks like we have things going in the right direction. Hopefully we can keep it going for the next two round against this tough field."

Nevada is 10th with a 291 after the first round of the three-round, three-day event. UC Davis is out in front at 277.

The tournament continues Tuesday and concludes Wednesday.
