Chong shoots second-round 70 to help keep Pack close

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Nevada women's golf team is in third place and just seven strokes back of the lead heading into the final round of the Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State.

The Wolf Pack got a 2-under round of 70 from senior Joyce Chong - the third-best round of the day at the tournament - and fired a 3-over round of 291 on Tuesday, two strokes better than the team's opening round score.

Junior Bethany Wurster shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday and is tied for seventh overall at 144 for the tournament. That's strokes better than Nikki Prichard, who is tied for 11th after a 74 on Tuesday. Chong is tied for 29th along with sophomore Caryn Khoo, and freshman Jordan Keyser.

UC Irvine leads the tournament at 577 through 36 holes with the final round slated for Wednesday. Portland State is two back at 579, followed by the Wolf Pack at 584.
