FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Junior Nikki Prichard tied for 19th and the Nevada women’s golf team finished in 10th place overall as the season-opening Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic hosted by Colorado State.

Prichard opened with a first-round 72 on Monday and the finish of the second round was delayed until Tuesday morning because of thunderstoms. Prichard shot 78 in that second round but came back strong with a 73 in the final round on Tuesday to finish with her first top-20 of the year after six top-20s last season.

The Wolf Pack, in the first event under first-year coach Kathleen Takaishi, closed with their best round of the tournament with a 297 in the third round. That put them in a 10th-place finish of 17 teams, just four shots back of tourney host and Mountain West foe Colorado State. Nevada finished ahead of three other MW schools in the tournament.

Sophomore Caryn Khoo matched Prichard’s 73 in the final round and she tied for 30th. Bethany Wurster tied for 45th, while Joyce Chong tied for 53rd and Carly Simpson tied for 83rd.

Next up for the Pack is the Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico next week.
