Wolf Pack Moves Up To Finish Second At Anteater Invitational

DOVE CANYON, Calif.  – The Nevada women’s golf team fired a 290 on Tuesday and moved up to finish second at the Anteater Invitational .

Freshman Joyce Chong carded a 70 and finished in a tie for second place individually to lead four Nevada players in the top 25 of the field. Jamie Yam shot 72 in the final round and finished tied for fourth, a stroke behind Chong.

“They played awesome today,” first-year head coach Chad Spencer said. “It was nice to see them go out and catch a couple teams and move up today. We are hitting a high note heading into the WAC Championships and I am really excited about that.”

Nevada was in fourth place after the first two round but the 290, one of the lowest rounds in program history, vaulted the Pack up the leaderboard. Portland State won the event by six strokes. Nevada finished three shots ahead of the host school UC Irvine and four clear of Long Beach State.

Senior Lauren Hernandez shot 74 on Tuesday tied for 16th while Louise Yi tied for 24th after a 74 in the final round. Ana Patricia de la Maza tied for 37th.
