YORBA LINDA, Calif. – Nevada freshman Caryn Khoo shot a 78 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for sixth place at the Gold Rush presented by Farmers at the Yorba Linda Country Club.

The finish marks the first career top-10 finish for Khoo, who entered the event with a tie for 12th at October’s New Mexico State event marking her top career finish to date. She shot 79-74-78 for the three-round tournament to lead Nevada.

Nevada shot 325 as a team on Tuesday and fell back from eighth to 10th place in the tournament. Sophomore Nikki Prichard matched Khoo’s 78 on Tuesday and tied for 18th. Prichard now has five top-20 finishes in Nevada’s five events during the 2012-13 season.

Junior Joyce Chong tied for 58th at 253 for the tournament. Senior Louise Yi was a shot back and in 60th place with freshman Carly Simpson two shots back and in 61st.

The host school, Long Beach State, won the team title by 10 strokes over Gonzaga. The Zags’ Raychelle Santos took medalist honors.

The Wolf Pack is back in action again this weekend when it travels to the Peg Barnard Invitational, hosted by Stanford in the Bay Area. The tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Saturday and the final 18 holes on Sunday.
