RENO, Nev. -
The University of Nevada women's basketball team has partnered with the Washoe County School District and Saint Mary's to host a "When I Grow Up" event Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Lawlor Events Center.
The WCSD will transport students to Lawlor Events Center, where participants will meet with representatives from the different colleges and entities of the University of Nevada. Students will have from 10-11:15 a.m. to go around to different booths on the concourse level and will then stay to watch the Nevada women's basketball team take on Cal State Los Angeles at 11:30 a.m. The event is free.
"We are excited to partner with the Washoe County School District and Saint Mary's in what should be a great event," head coach Jane Albright said. "Education is very important and I am looking forward to have students from the WCSD come learn about our great University and also cheer on our team."
The "When I Grow Up" event will be held to expose WCSD students to the University of Nevada who might think that college is out of reach. Participants will have a chance to visit with student-athletes, coaches, professors and administrators who can give them words of wisdom about the importance of higher education and that they too can go to college through hard work in the classroom.
