RENO, Nev. -

Sixth-year Nevada women’s basketball head coach Jane Albright announced the signing of three prep standouts to National Letters of Intent, the school announced Wednesday.

Teige Zeller (rhymes with beige), a 6-2 forward from Los Lunas, N.M., Alejandra “AJ” Cephas, a 6-1 forward from Antioch, Calif., and Mariah Williams, a 5’11 guard/forward from Fairfield, Calif., signed  with the Wolf Pack and will enroll next fall.

“When you sign young people, it takes a lot of people besides myself to do that,” Albright said. “Camille Williams is my recruiting coordinator, but Kami Malnaa and Jacie Capra certainly had a lot to do with everything. Our student-athletes are the best recruiters we have, because ultimately it’s about bringing those young people to campus and having them feel comfortable once they are here. All three are very good students and people of high character. My staff is excited to welcome Teige, AJ, and Mariah to our program.”

Zeller led her Los Lunas High School team to a state championship last season, where she averaged 18 ppg., 12 rpg., and 5 bpg. The Los Lunas native was named New Mexico Player of the Year, 1st team all-state and American Family Insurance All-USA team following the championship season. Zeller plays high school basketball under her father, Marty Zeller and AAU ball for New Mexico heat for coach Robert Sanchez. Zeller was also tabbed MVP and Best Defensive Player of Metro Class 3/4A, as well as MVP of District 6-4A after her junior year.

“Teige is our first player from New Mexico and we feel it’s important to be able to recruit in our various Mountain West cities," said Albright. "She’s a power forward who is big and strong. She’s a complete player who can come in and automatically be a strong presence for us in the post.”

Cephas played the 2012-13 season for Deer Valley High School where she averaged 6.5 ppg., 6 rpg., and 2.1 bpg as a junior. She was selected as one of the Top-40 players in the northern California area. Cephas received Bay Valley League honorable mention honors following her junior year. The Antioch native plays at Deer Valley under head coach Mark Hurtado and AAU for the Stockton Mustangs under coach Que Ngo.

“ AJ is long and athletic,” said Albright. “She comes to us from the same program as current freshman guard Ashlee Jones. I loved watching AJ play AAU because she was able to influence a lot of things in the game such as rebounding and pressing.”

Williams averaged 11.3 ppg., 7.3 rpg., 1.7 apg., and 1.9 spg in her junior season at Vanden High School. The 5’11 guard/forward plays at Vanden under head coach Allison Johnson and plays AAU for the Cal Ballaz under head coach Leroy Hurt.

“Mariah is a strong player who is extremely athletic,” Albright said. “She’s explosive and is a big rebounding guard who will be a nice addition to our team.”
