RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada women’s basketball program has signed Holly Jones (Colts Neck, NJ) to a National Letter of Intent head coach Jane Albright announced Wednesday.
Jones, a 5-9 guard from Colts Neck, NJ, is Albright’s first signee at Nevada. Jones attended IMG Academies this year. Prior to IMG Academies Jones attended Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.
“We are ecstatic that Holly will join our Wolf Pack family,” Albright said. “She is a very talented guard who can score, pass, and defend. Holly has all the intangibles we look for in an athlete and will be a great in the classroom as well. I expect her to make an immediate impact in our program.”
In the spring of 2008, Jones played AAU with the Blue Chip Elite Team in Louisville, Ky. where she averaged 17.4 points per game, 5.3 assists per game, 3.4 rebounds per game and shot 88 percent from the free throw line.
She was named to the Blue Chip Invitational Camp Top 20 All-Star Team as well as the Blue Chip Invitational Camp Top 20 All-Star Game MVP and “Best Ball Handler.”
At Oak Hill Academy, Jones averaged 13.8 points per game, 8.3 assists per game and 2.2 rebounds per game as a junior. Jones attended Colts Neck High School in Colts Neck, NJ as a freshman and sophomore. As a sophomore she averaged 15.7 points per game, 5.4 assists per game and 3.0 rebounds per game and served as a team captain.
While at Oak Hill Academy, Jones helped lead her team to a 2007 NACA Division II National Championship and was also named to the 2007 NACA All-Tournament First Team.
