RENO, Nev. - Nevada won its third straight game and second consecutive WAC game as they downed Boise State here Thursday night, 73-67.
Nevada (6-12, 2-4 WAC) was paced by freshman guard Brandi Fitzgerald's career-high 23 points and she had help from Traci Graham and Jessica Preslar each had 13 points. Cherlanda Franklin had seven rebounds though Boise State held a 42-34 edge in that category.
The Pack trailed at the half, 31-30. Nevada took its first lead, 28-27, at the 3:27 mark on a three-pointer by Dellena Criner. They would lead early in the second half, 34-33, but wouldn't take the lead again until at 48-46 at the 11:59 mark on a Fitzgerald basket.
Nevada would go up by six, 55-49 at the 10:12 mark but Boise State came back to take a four-point lead, 59-55 with 8:04 remaining. The Broncos would take a six-point lead, 63-57, at the 6:46 mark but Nevada went on a 10-3 run over the next three minutes and Nevada never trailed again, though the score would be tied at 69 with just 39 seconds left.
There were seven lead changes in the game. Nevada had eight three-pointers, a season-high, and hit a season-best 44.4 percent while Boise State canned seven long-range shots.
The Pack had only 14 turnovers and added 10 steals and a season-best seven blocked shots as the Pack limited Boise State to just 41.5 percent. Nevada shot slightly better with a 42.1 percent showing.
Jackie Lee led Boise State (11-8, 3-4 WAC) with 19 points. Four others scored in double-figures for a balanced Bronco attack.
Nevada continues WAC play when they travel to Hawai`i for a Saturday night game in Hololulu at 7 p.m. HT (p.m. PT).
