LAS VEGAS -- The University of Nevada earned two victories at the ITA Mountain Regionals on day four.
Earning his way into the singles consolation finals for the Wolf Pack was Moez Echargui, as he picked up the two Nevada victories. In his quarterfinal match, Echargui battled back after losing the first set, and after being down 5-1 in the third set, he came back to defeat James Hignett of New Mexico State 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
"I can't say enough about Moez this week," head coach Erik Burton said. "He has battled through injury and he still comes through to the finals."
In his semifinal matchup, Echargui again dropped his first set to Alex Grubbs of Air Force Academy 7-6, but cruised in the next to sets 6-2, 6-1 to reach the consolation finals.
The winner of the singles consolation finals matchup is automatically ranked in the Mountain Region for the fall. The singles consolation finals match takes place on Sunday in Las Vegas.
