RENO, Nev. -- The University of Nevada men’s tennis team is on the road this week, beginning on Wednesday, for the ITA Mountain Region Men’s Tennis Championships in Las Vegas.
The Wolf Pack is looking to continue with its strong season thus far, led by junior team captain Victor Ouvrard, who has a consolation singles title and a doubles title with partner Fernando Sunago in the young season. Last week at the UCSB Invitational, he finished second in his doubles flight with Sunago.
“Victor has had a really great season and he will be racing for the title at the ITA Mountain Regionals in Las Vegas,” Erik Burton, Nevada men’s tennis head coach said.
Philip Hinojosa added a consolation title of his own in Santa Barbara, with a victory over Adam Levie of UC Davis 6-4, 6-1 in the Flight C consolation finals.
Newcomer Andrew Pousite has been playing well, including a fourth-place finish in the single Flight A bracket in Santa Barbara. Coach Burton hopes he can continue his excellent play in Las Vegas.
“I’m very impressed with Andrew this weekend [in Santa Barbara],” he said. “For a freshman, he is really playing tough.
