Men's Tennis Announces 2008-09 Schedule, Returns Nine Players
RENO, Nev. - Fourth-year University of Nevada head men’s tennis coach Chad Stoloff announced Friday his team’s 2008-09 schedule. He also announced that nine men’s tennis players will return for the upcoming season.
“This is the most competitive schedule that we have ever had in the history of the program,” Stoloff said. “The team is excited for this year and the challenges and opportunities in front of us.”
The Wolf Pack will open the season playing in five tournaments throughout the fall. The Pack will open the season on Sept. 26 at the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas. Following the Baylor Invitational, the Pack will head to Fresno, Calif. on Oct. 3-5 for the Bulldog Classic.
Selected players from the Pack will play in the All-American Championships on Oct. 3-12 in Tulsa, Okla. and to the ITA Regional Championships on Oct. 17-21 in Berkeley, Calif. The final tournament of the fall will be the Gael Classic in Moraga, Calif. on Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.
The Pack will open individual match play on Jan. 24 and 25 against Northern Arizona and Arizona, respectively, at Tuscon, Ariz. The team will open the home side of its season schedule on March 1 against Sonoma State.
After a four-game road stretch from March 7-16 against Pacific, U.C. Davis, San Diego State and Yale, respectively, the Pack will begin WAC play on March 21 against Idaho in the first of six-straight matches at home. The sixth matches, against Boise State on April 11, will conlude the Wolf Pack’s home schedule. It will conclude the regular season on April 17-19 at Boise, Idaho taking on Fresno State, defending WAC Champion Hawai`i and Utah State, respectively. The Western Athletic Conference Championship will be held at Honolulu on April 24-26.
Returning to the Wolf Pack are Laurent Garcin, Orion Ashmore, Tony Bulich, Guerin Smith, Benjamin David,
Kristian Kuharszky, Alex Daruty, Augustin Myard and Gabe Kanzelmeyer. Last season, the Pack compiled a 7-14 record.
