Nevada Tennis Raises Money for Lake Tahoe School
June 3, 2013
RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's and women's tennis teams helped raise more than $8,000 for the Lake Tahoe School on Saturday by participating in a fundraiser at the 2013 Crystal Ball Auction.
The event was held at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe and featured both live and silent auctions, including the items in connection with the Nevada tennis teams. Two all-access packages, featuring lessons with men's coach Erik Burton and women's coach Guillaume Tonelli, a road trip with either team in the upcoming season, Wolf Pack gear and a $500 gift certificate to the Tennis Warehouse among other items, were sold for $4,200 each.
All of the proceeds went directly to the Lake Tahoe School, a K-8 school in Incline Village that places a particular emphasis on the visual and performing arts.
The travel costs associated with the package and gift certificates were donated by Nevada tennis supporters Pourya and Jennifer Dehnadi, who drew up the idea alongside Burton as a way to give back to the Reno-Tahoe Community.
"The Dehnadis were the driving force behind our presence at the Crystal Ball on Saturday," Burton said. "I am grateful to them for their donations and know that we gave back to our community in a real way this weekend."
Tonelli raved about the event and Nevada's opportunity to contribute to an educational enterprise in the area.
"It was a spectacular night and a worthwhile cause," he said. "I'm ecstatic about the fact that both our men's and women's programs were able to contribute and want to thank the Dehnadis for their continued support."
