Pack Drop Contest With No. 66 Anteaters

COTO DE CAZA, Calif. – Nevada men’s tennis fell to No. 66 UC Irvine Saturday afternoon by a final score of 5-2.

Nevada lost the doubles point to the Eaters, falling behind early at the Coto De Caza Racquet Club.

“We fought hard but just couldn’t make up losing the doubles point,” Head Coach Sylvain Malroux said.

Nevada got singles victories from Laurent Garcin and Alex Daruty in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots respectively.

Only one of the other singles matches contested went three sets, as Wessim Derbel fell to UC Irvine’s Sam Gould in the No. 1 spot 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Nevada will meet UC Riverside Sunday.

“We will come back strong against (UC) Riverside,” Malroux said. “We will learn from this match as well.”
