Men's Tennis Drops Close Match to Weber State 4-3

OGDEN, Utah - The Nevada men's tennis team lost a close match to Weber State 4-3 Saturday afternoon in Ogden.
The Wolf Pack won the doubles point in the match as the team of freshmen Tibor Penzes and Randy Reynolds defeated Weber State's Mathis Saberon and Matt Allred 8-5 and the duo of seniors Rafal Stupka and Max Volger downed Chris Williams and Zach Rideout 9-8 (2).
In singles competition, Nevada earned a pair of victories and came within two points of the third that would have won the match. Junior Guillame Tonellin won at the No. 1 position, avenging a doubles loss with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Fabio Mancarella. In the No. 3 match, Junior Eldar Dzhafarov also turned in a hard-fought victory over Mathis Saberon 7-6 (2), 3-6, 7-6 (7). Nevada came close to another win at the No. 2 position with Penzes falling to Sashoa Kiehne 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 after winning the second set.
The Wolf Pack (1-5 on the year) returns to action Sunday afternoon, traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, to take on the University of Utah.
