Wolf Pack Tennis on the Road

Jan. 14, 2013

RENO, Nev. -- The University of Nevada men's tennis team will see its first action of the year when it faces UC Irvine on Tuesday.

The Wolf Pack will travel to Irvine, Calif. for its first regular season head-to-head matchup. Last season, the Pack finished with a 11-11 record. Head coach Erik Burtonhas bigger sights for the team this year, aimed at the conference championship.

"I'm looking forward to progressing this team and program in a very positive direction, including a Mountain West Conference championship," Burton said. "Coming off one of the best recruiting seasons in recent history, our talent will shine with our hard work and diligence toward a Mountain West title."

Leading the way for the Wolf Pack is team captain and ITA Mountain Region Singles No. 10 Victor Ouvrard. In preseason, Ouvrard had a singles flight victory at the UC Davis Fall Aggie Invitational.

Ouvrard and partner Fernando Sunago head the charge in doubles, as they earned a No. 7 ITA Mountain Region Doubles ranking. Together they posted a Doubles flight victory in the Aggie Invitational this previous October.

Ouvrard and Sunago are just two members of the strong Wolf Pack roster.

"Talents like Ouvrard, Sunago, and Moez Echargui, along with newcomers Andrew Poustie, Robert Allan, and Ryan Andrada create huge depth in the lineup," Burton said.
