Pack Earns Two Finals Victories in Davis

DAVIS, Calif. -- The University of Nevada Men’s tennis team finished strong at UC Davis Fall Aggie Invitational on Sunday, earning six victories, including two finals victories.

To advance to the finals, junior team captain Victor Ouvrard defeated Ben Mirkin of Pacific 6-4, 6-2 to in the Flight A ITA Singles consolation semifinals. In the finals, he defeated Toki Sherbakov of UC Davis 6-4, 1-6, 1-0(7).

The flight B ITA Singles consolation semifinals saw Philip Hinojosa defeat Thomas Hunt of Saint Mary’s 7-6(5), 6-3, before falling in the finals.

In the round robin consolations singles flight, Moez Echargui and Andrew Poustie both posted victories. Echargui defeated Pacific’s Denis Stolyarov 6-2, 4-6, 1-0(4). Poustie defeated Johan Samuelsson of USF 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles play, Ouvrard and Fernando Sunago defeated the team of Sherbakov and Adam Levie of UC Davis 8-2 in the Flight A ITA Doubles Consolations finals.

The Wolf Pack’s next tournament will be the UCSB Invitational in Santa Barbara, Calif. starting on Oct. 10.
