TULSA, Okla. -- In the second half of day two of the ITA All-American Tournament in Tulsa, the University of Nevada men's tennis team picked up a win but dropped a pair of third round pre-qualifying matches.
A pair of third round matches were on tap for the Pack in the second half of day two, but dropped them both. It was a tough way to end the day after such an emotional start.
"Andrew Poustie's match lasted two and a half hours, on top of his win earlier this morning," head coach Erik Burton said. "Moez Echargui turned his ankle in his match, and he was up in his set before he started cramping. It's a tough break, and we'll probably sit him the rest of the fall."
Echargui dropped his match to Ricky Medinilla of Purdue 7-6(5), 6-2. He was up 5-3 in the first when the cramps started to settle in, and plagued him for the rest of the match. Poustie's was entrenched in a three set war but could not come out victorious against Tin Ostojic of Wichita State, as he dropped his match 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Co-Captain Quentin Mege picked up a win in his consolation singles match against Cole Guy of Oral Roberts in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
Nevada will be in action later this week when Victor Ouvrard has his qualifying match for the ITA All-American Tournament.
